The corporate filtering system, which is the system that brought you (in my humble opinion) a piece of crap like "Mambo No. 5" and didn't let you hear the brilliant Cat Power record or the amazing new Sleater Kinney record*, obviously doesn't have good taste anyway. But we've never paid major label/distributors for their good taste.
     - Courney Love, "Courtney Love Does the Math"

I remember reading this article when it came out in 2000, and I post the link not only because it's a great read (based off this article, which I also read about the same time†), but because since I read it, Missy has introduced me to the "brilliance" of Cat Power and Indienow radio has indroduced me to the "amazing" Sleater-Kinney. I've always kind of liked what Courney Love has to say, even though I wouldn't trust her any farther than I can throw a 32" television.

*I don't think they want to be that big, though, according to this interview with Carrie.
†though I don't remember how I stumbled upon either of them. The links were resurrected from my memory by Jason.
