Dave, relax already. This isn't nearly as big a paradigm shift as you're making it out to be. Who's more foolish? The fool who makes shite, or the fool who installs and uses it?
Here's my point:
Should Google do this? Nope. I see where Winer is going with this; some people will use it, and for them, our content will be altered after the fact without our control. However, that is the very nature of the web: Here's some content, what tool you use to render the markup and how it does that is up to you. This is another thing that needs to and will be regulated by simple market forces. I feel the same way about municipal bans on smoking in restaurants.
Should people smoke? Nope. But if people don't want smoke in restaurants, then they'll vote with their dollars. Non-smoking establishments will do better than those which allow smoking, and market forces will make that the way to go. If people like Google's tool, then it's our job as content creators to expect the possibility of and make allowances for its use.
