You know your software sucks when...
...your documentation has such a difficult time explaining a feature that it gives up and just recommends you consult someone who is already familiar with it.*
...you can't even document all the possible error codes it throws (many are guilty, but Symantec and Microsoft truly rule this one).
...it was written as an update designed to gain compatability on a certain platform, and then fails to run at all on said platform.
...it crashes during the launch demonstration, and won't restart (QuakeIII at MWSF2k, Windows 98, Windows Media Center Edition, etc.).
...script kiddies don't even bother to pirate it.
...NASA has planned, designed, developed and successfully landed a rover on Mars in the time [it] has been in development.
...retail stores allow returns on opened copies.
...usability experts use your interface as an example in their books.
