Why is this legal?

First week of horoscopes are complimentary. By entering your personal PIN Code, you are signing up for a text service subscription that is charged at $9.99 per month per service billed directly to wireless bill. You may stop this subscription service any time by sending a text message with STOP, END or QUIT to short code 95164, or by using our customer service web form where available. Your phone must have text message capability. You must be the owner of this device, and either be at least 16 years of age or have the permission of your parent/guardian. Standard text messaging rates apply.

I confirmed this with Verizon: you enter the web form, they bill your carrier, and your carrier in turn adds it to your invoice. It's just that easy.
I really need to stop this whole "go to work every day" bit. I wouldn't have to work so hard for a living if I stopped paying attention to those pesky "ethics" and just started legally screwing people.
