I wonder if he knows what they do to guys like him in prison...
His 'life sentence' will probably turn out to be a short stay.

"Hi Travis! I was going through some old e-mails and saw this URL and thought I'd check it out. It's good to still know you're alive. I've lost contact with so many people it's not funny. Anyway, just thought I'd drop and note and say hello. The website is for my daughter Natalia. Maybe it will help you remember me. ;) Kimberly"

When I see all the weakness
that I turned into sickness,
I still think I can slide
just fine on the ice.
It's not easy to be honest.
Sometimes I'm just astonished
how hard it can be to be true.

Yeah, except the college is in Fargo, the family is in North Dakota and Texas, the Girlfriend is in Florida, the friends are all over the world, and my heart desires a life in Chicago.

"Trackbackping leads to post, post leds to new site about Chicago which leads to finding a pic about 300 feet from where I'm sitting. Damn the net is neat some days. "

"I miss you all the time, but at least my family and friends are (for the most part) confined to Florida."

"I was just talking to Ryan the other night about how I like the age in which I live: where my girlfriend can visit my website and use my phone to tell me, while I'm walking into a video store, that she's eating grilled cheese tonight."

I was talking to Fran today, and said "Bullocks!" in the conversation. It didn't occur to me (until after I sent the message) that the English slang that has worked its way into my vocabulary (thanks to the likes of Guy Richie and Nick Hornby) is only useful when I'm talking to Americans. In all other contexts, it just looks like I'm a wannabe. I mean, that's true, but it's not why I use those phrases--when you hear someone say something like "bugger off" enough, you say it too, regardless of whether or not you desperately want to live in their country.

I'd also like to point out that I was about to conclude this post by saying "Okay, don't read this shite..."
But then I realized that I was totally proving my own point. How sad.

Comments:
"Don't worry, Travis. Nobody says 'bullocks'."

"I say "shite" sometimes. Shite happens."

"If I stopped saying shite and other terms, my face would melt. I wouldn't have a vocabulary anymore."

"Nobody says bullocks? Guy Ritchie lied to me! Bastard!"

"It's 'bollocks'. "

Today was the first day of classes.
Of five, I have two teachers who can speak English; one of which chooses not to, as she's my Spanish instructor.
That's the problem with my line of work: all the people who are able to teach it are out in the world actually making money--all that's left, is grad students.
