That phrase "Live as if to die tomorrow, learn as if to live forever" is totally contradictory. If you really spent a day living like you were going to die tomorrow, the first thing you'd learn is not to do that ever again.

My dad with a Pacifico. When I was a kid, my dad's beer was Old Milwaukee. Now he mostly drinks Bud Light. (See where this is going?)
I tried to get him to buy Corona last time I went home--an idea which was adamantly shot down. Recently, my parents were on a business trip, and my mom mentioned on the phone that the place where they were eating had a wide variety of available beers. I suggested he try Pacifco Clara, and upon the urging of my mother, I'm sure (I can hear it: "Travis said it was good, just try it."), he actually did. I haven't heard if he liked it or not, but regardless, this is good progress.
My dad doesn't drink beer to get drunk, my dad drinks beer to have a beer, and Bud/Coors/Miller/Busch Light is made for drunkenness, not for taste. If he wants rice in his beer (!) I'll bring him Sapporo.

"That IS exactly what I said!!! I'll bring you that beer list....they had more than 100 different kinds!"

The president indicated that he would not cede authority to the United Nations or agree to a quick transfer of power to get a new resolution, saying, "I'm not so sure we have to, for starters."
Bush said he would be willing to expand the U.N. role in Iraq only in a narrow fashion, such as assisting the interim Governing Council in writing a constitution.
"I mean, they're good at that," he said in the interview, which was conducted Sunday. "Or, perhaps when an election starts, they'll oversee the election. That would be deemed a larger role."

Maybe I shouldn't be, but I'm often still amazed at how George W. Bush can be handed an interview, and so efficiently hang himself with it. What's even more scary: it may not even result in the death of his career, due largely to the astonishing apathy of the American people.

"I'll be the first to admit i'm pretty apathetic when it comes to political things, i refuse to vote, and most of the time i'm just concerned about the lower rungs of Maslow's hiearchy of needs. I'm imperfect, judge me. "

"Well, I think Bianca is in the majority...we've become accustomed to our lifestyles and we're pretty complacent...it's a byproduct of living in the wonderful US of A....and maybe that's how life SHOULD be, but in other parts of the world, it is not? I'm imperfect, too, so no judgment here...."

"I'm in the minority, I guess. I vote even though I live in Florida and it does no good! I vote because women have only had that right for about 83 years, which ain't a lot."

Since Bush declared an end to active military operations on May 1, more than 70 American troops in Iraq have been killed in hostile fire.

Pardon the meaningless post--I'm working on a dyanmic page builder for MT, and need to test some trackback stuff.
Move along; nothing to see here.

I'd really like to go to BloggingWorks, as there was some mild interest upstairs for using blogs/RSS here at ITS, but I don't have the time, money, or place to stay in Chicago.
To add to what I'll be missing, I just found out that Anil will be there.
